The layout isnt an elite golf course layout but it is a very pretty and extremely well maintained parkland course which flows through mature parkland with every hole being well defined. There are four individual Par 3s with well guarded or two tier greens and the three par 5s require a degree of accuracy to negotiate fairway hazards. Error occurred. Peterborough Milton Golf club has a fine, well-established, picturesque par 71 parkland course with many of the holes being played in full view of Milton Hall. As my score reflects it is definitely worth playing (and is very enjoyable if you do) if in the area but as with a lot of courses in this part of the country is not worth going well out of your way to play. This has resulted in a challenging finish, as Braid would have desired. Saying this, there are strong holes throughout the round and the hall makes a nice backdrop in the middle of the round. I would say the highlight holes come in the back nine mostly, my two favourites being the 16th, a very short but very well bunkered par 3 with a 3 tiered green,and the 18th which has two vast cross bunkers in driving range with a layup leaving a semi blind shot into the green. There is a large putting green by the 1st tee and another chipping green by the 10th tee. Fortunately, the greens staff were still on site when a mower self-ignited and the fire service were able to save the day before too much damage was done. Having played several top courses this year including 4 within the English top 25 I can honestly say that Peterborough Milton GC has the best quality greens by some way! As we departed the 18th green one member asked if the fire might have been a terrorist attack. The ten acre developed practice ground runs parallel to the left of the 1st fairway which coupled with lake temptation across the 1st and down the side of the 18th fairway makes a challenging start and end to this course. The par-five 13th has eight to contend with whilst at the same time offering the best view of the Hall. The course features a 12 hole course and a par-67 golf course with tree-lined fairways. Type: Parkland English Drove, Thorney, PE6 0TJ Its not the longest course but with small traditional classic James Braid greens there is a trade off between hitting driver and leaving a shorter approach over laying back to hit fairway but leaving a longer iron into the greens. Elton Furze takes its name from the prickly green bush with yellow flowers, which grows abundantly in their ancient woodland around the course. The par threes offer great variety, the 16th at only 118 yards being especially hazardous when the hole is tucked behind the huge, long bunker at the front left of the deep, hourglass-shaped green.
