Its quite a specific type of experience and its not all there is to travelling this part of the world. Personally I would cut the more commercial Pattaya and Phuket and spend some time on the less developed Cambodian beaches, but thats just me Or go to Koh Chiang island as its more on the way and keeps your route more compact.
